We have a modified creo, basically a lotum, that works very well. We're now considering a ds 8600. Cost seems to be the issue, but I'm concerned about quality, consistency, control. Our system is relatively simplistic (one paper stock, one press, one plate curve). We produce about 120 plates daily on bakeless Sword plates. We're currently holding a very tight tolerance (3 to 4%) between chemistry cycles when measuring the plates (in the 50% range) and have found no one as picky as us with which we can compare notes. I want to make sure that ds can reproduce similar results.
Does ds or any o...

we are looking at purchasing a Creo Trendsetter 3244.....the question is whether it uses positive plates or negative plates. It is slightly used and the current owner does not know the answer.
Thanks a lot in advance.

i have a Trensdetter 800 QuANTUM Spectrum

Very frequent error started recently

"Trailing Edge Clamps not on Actuator"

You clear and it either fails the plate and moves on to next one or asks resume with another message
MOVE CLAMPS TO PARK POSTITION and then click resume

Can anyone suggest a solution to this frequent problem

I notice there are a lot of people here that are still doing film and are wanting to upgrade to a CTP system. I know someone who is selling an older system, but it works great and maybe a good start without spending an arm and leg, especially in today's economy. The platesetter is a Presstek Dimensions 200 (2 up) machine with the Momentum (Harlequinn based) RIP. Our machine is being repaired due to a bad motor in our chiller so I went there to use their machine to make plates and it works just fine. i think he's asking for about $7000 for it but is taking offers.

Did you end up fi...

Hi All,

I am new to the forum, but it seems to be a great source of knowledge.

I have a query, which I am hoping you will be able to help me with.

I work for a small lithographic print company. We are currently looking to upgrade our prepress department due to aging machinery, and computer equipment, and I am trying to find the best solution.

We run a 2 colour ROLAND 200 B2 press - plate size is 605mm x 730mm, and a Heidelberg GTOZ and a Heidelberg GTO (B3) - plate size is 400mm x 500mm.

We would use approximately 50 B2 plates per week, and 75 B3 [plates per week.

Hi All,

How is Fuji Luxel T-9500CTP when compared to Kodak Trendsetter 800 III Quantum computer to plate systems. Kindly help me as my friend wants to make a decision on this.

Regards,

Relina.

I would go with the Trendsetter 800. It tends to be a more stable machine and its much easier and cheaper to service. Check out our website, we have machines from both manufacturers in stock as well as other used platesetters

Anybody ever change the trail clamps on their screen device? I don't have a service contract and I use a third party for maint. Last two times it cost about 5 grand to have them replace the parts.
Is it worth the time to try and do it myself? How much do the parts cost if I were to purchase them?? Any info would help

Thanks

It also looks like we may trade our Creo Trendsetter for a Prosetter, any opinions on this are welcomed (may ask this again on another forum). The good news for you guys is that we shall soon be buying PDF/X-Robot!
Thanks again for your help.

Hi Kipper, this was interesting because I thought that the Heidelberg Prosetter was an internal drum imager. I do like the violet aspect of it and Creo Trendsetter is a power hog, but man I would never trade a trendsetter for an internal drum platesetter. I would say stick with the Creo Trendsetter myself.

Anyone know if this ctp had any problem?

Have you considered any other manufacturers? What kind of plates are you using? Check us out for used ctp systems

We have used Creo, Kodak, Screen, and Agfa in stock.

I have recently purchased a Trendsetter, and all of the sudden it is telling me to move the clamp (I am using a bigger plate than before). I do not have the book and am not sure how to move the clamp. Any suggestions?

I suggest you have a professional look at that, it might not be a big issue but if you make a wrong move you can seriously damage your equipment. My company has experience repairing used prepress equipment in the field and can certainly help you.
