Prepress Software :: RE: Defined Trim & Bleed inside a page
===========================
Hello, Nice Avatar you chose. I'm not exactly certain what you are wanting to do? So, what you are describing I think is that the docs were built like old fashioned art boards, paste ups. The designer or artist actually made the document size LARGER than the actual trim. Then, they placed a bunch of crap on the document to build their own bleed and trim marks. OMG, this IS a pet peeve. Or, are you by chance a designer who wants to do this to your documents? And if so, my apologies for being blunt about that. Just so I am clear, please describe wh... - Read More..

Mac OS X Forum :: RE: Best font manager?
===========================
Hi criley, Welcome to the forums, interesting post. The problem (for me) is mainly that these fonts will need to be de-activated, or toggled back and forth on/off. I understand your point, but this would never work in my environment where we have at last count over 23, 000 fonts and about 7, 000 families many (different) but with same names from different customers and or foundries, some customized in fontographer by some retard designer or agency (). When I quit QuarkXpress, Illustrator, or InDesign, all fonts are immediately de-activated. ... - Read More..

Graphic Design Forum :: Your Input/Feedback is Requested
===========================
Pardon my intrusion but I am seeking opinions and am not sure how else to do it. I'm a professional photographer who will be starting up a new stock site including EPS images, photos and film geared toward the catalog and advertising professional. (just what the internet needs, right!) Your input is needed so that I can gear the site toward the needs of graphic designers and art directors. What I'm curious about is: 1 - Would you buy images from a site that does not sell rights-managed - (keeping in mind that the quality is very good and monitored and you could ... - Read More..

After spending nearly 22 grand on a new xserve raid I find out NONE of my 20 os9 clients can sherlock anything! You've got to be kidding me right? Prepress Software :: RE: Microsoft Excel .XLS file import issue in QuarkXPress
===========================
Hi, The thing is i've been following the steps you described for a long time now, but thanks anyway. However, using QuarkXPress 3, 4 or 5, I was able to paste the excel table into a picture frame and to obtain the expected result (though only for one-color plate - grayscale documents, for example) when using distiller to make the pdf. My question was why the later versions of Quark (6, 6.5 and 7) doesn't respond to this. Again, many thanks for your response. - Read More..

Since we've had problems copying to/from our server before, we thought we'd try copying a PDF that IS crashing Quark to the desktop. Imported it from there, and it doesn't crash. What on our server would be causing that? - Read More..

Prepress Software :: RE: Thread on adobe photoshop forums-photoshop vector type
===========================
Using photoshop to carry type is a bad development and yes, should be avoided. It's a nice feature if you have no layout or illustration program. But good document construction should be done in a program that is designed for document construction, that would be Adobe Indesign or QuarkXpress. When you are trying to link up fonts and get a document to print, the more NESTED use of fonts and images, the worse the thing will go. Adobe Photoshop is a bitmap editing application and should not be used for textual composition unless there are special e... - Read More..

Graphic Design Forum :: RE: text boxes and picture boxes in Quark 6

Hello geri, These controls are in the box properties and are global to all 4 corners of the box. If you click on the square box tool till it pops out the other types of box tools, will pop out to side. One of them has a pen tool for freehanding boxes with a bezier curves tool. Use that one and make your box, two corners square, click and drag to create the two curved corners. Use some guides to help get the box shape correct. This will give you a box you are seeking. _ JoePostscript -- support administrator Expertise: qua... - Read More..

Prepress Software :: RE: Problems opening InDesignCS2 files with InDesignCS3
===========================
PC with an updated win XP. I had no problem with the InDesign CS3 installation. I do not have CS2 in this PC but I have it in another. I tried creating an empty document with CS2 and I can open it. But if I try to open a non empty file, the program suddenly quits while loading. The most far I got was removing all pages and leaving only the master ones. Then I am able to open the file, but when I click to see the master pages, InDesign gets closed again . I also tried saving the CS2 document in .inx, but still the same. Yes, I know it's a bit strange xD . I tried uninstalling and installing again and the same prob... - Read More..

Prepress Software :: Defined Trim & Bleed inside a page
===========================
Hi all, for many years you have been able to print your jobs to PDF that include bleed and trim areas when you define them in the print setup. But what if your templates have all of that defined within your pages, how do you then get that information into your resulting PDF without post processing your file with something like Pitstop. I'd like to be able to define Bleed Guides and Trim Guides within my documents that are carried through to Postscript or PDF that the workflow systems then honor rather than redefining them after. Anyone know of a plugin for Qu... - Read More..
