again, not to be argumentative, but what is easier than having an alias of your user fonts folder on your desktop that your drag and drop fonts onto? and it is one less application to have running and have to keep upgrading. actually, i have thousands of font groups that have been sent by many, many customers that i toggle on and off all day, and i have used lots of them, suitcase, font agent pro, master juggler back in the day, and i havent found anything quicker or more efficient than this simple drag-and-drop approach. no right or wrong answer here, as long as what each person uses works for them. but i s... - Read More..

PC with an updated win XP. I had no problem with the InDesign CS3 installation. I do not have CS2 in this PC but I have it in another. I tried creating an empty document with CS2 and I can open it. But if I try to open a non empty file, the program suddenly quits while loading. The most far I got was removing all pages and leaving only the master ones. Then I am able to open the file, but when I click to see the master pages, InDesign gets closed again . I also tried saving the CS2 document in .inx, but still the same. Hi all, for many years you have been able to print your jobs to PDF that include bleed and trim areas when you define them in the print setup. But what if your templates have all of that defined within your pages, how do you then get that information into your resulting PDF without post processing your file with something like Pitstop. I'd like to be able to define Bleed Guides and Trim Guides within my documents that are carried through to Postscript or PDF that the workflow systems then honor rather than redefining them after. Hello Nitey, Man, This is a file war isn't it, strange deal and so mysterious.. if you told me that last paragraph first I would have just laughed. Not that a file name cant cause a problem, but those are all very legal and legitimate file names. As long as there is ONLY one PEERIOD, and all else is alpha-numeric, dash, or underscore, there <should> be no problem.. I personally will never use a space in an image file or PDF but many people do. Hello, The way you are doing it is a method that may (usually) work but only with very simple files. So, what I do is always make the file into an PDF, then an EPS, that (always) works. Quark Xpress prefers an EPS or Tiff over anything else. (1) What you do is print the file from MS Excel to Distiller, be sure color PDF settings are set to CMYK so that you don't come out with an RGB file. Open & Set your Distiller to PDF/X-1a before you print is best. (2) Then open that file in Acrobat and save as an EPS file. Set level 2 eps, cmyk color space, an... - Read More..

I can't say I have heard of the Kinkos one from customers, but that wouldn't suprise me. Try this one - readers spreads for a binder book that punches. They did not shift the copy, and the bleed is not correct due to the readers spreads ( no bleed on one side of each page that would be considered correct). They first give me the PDF with no marks and no bleed-WRONG. Second PDF, after specifically telling them what to do, still wrong. Oluwafemi Ajagunjeun, glad you can join us. You will find a lot of people using a lot of programs. For me, and many people I know, here are the major programs I see daily. For layout, QuarkXPress and InDesign. For creative applications, like you would use CorelDraw, we see the majority in Abobe Illustrator and Freehand. With Adobe buying Freehand and not updating anything anymore, Freehand will be gone within the next year or so.
