There are a few things to look for when preparing documents for PDF-Robot. The goal is to check these things as you build and edit your documents. It is a good idea to check your documents out for bleeds and sectioning prior to running through PDF-X-Robot. Proper Document Sectioning - PDF/X-Robot uses the document sectioning to name its pages. If you don't have your documents sectioned properly, the PDF files will not come out named correctly. Or, they may come out in a bad order, or could overwrite each other. Please do not use Alphabet characters in your document sectioning, numbers ONLY. Section all your documents to reflect their actual pagination and folio in the final job. Improper Bleeds - The robot cannot detect whether you want or need bleeds extended on a page. So, please verify that your bleeds are extended 1/8 of an inch beyond the actual document trim size. We recommend that you always apply and check bleeds when handling any page. So, as you are working your documents, take a second to go to look. Check the Bleeds and make sure your documents are Sectioned Correctly.
Always Maintain Proper Config - Please be sure you understand proper maintenance of Mac OS X. There are specific disk and file system maintenance procedures that you need to use. Additionally, you should be really careful in using third party disk utilities on OS X. Once you have a PDF-X-Robot workstation configured and running, we recommend keeping it very clean and well maintained. Please see our recommended maintenance procedures and follow our advice. Master OS X Font Management - Please be sure that you take the time and care necessary to manage your Mac OS X fonts properly. Mac OS X is very cumbersome and problematic with fonts. Please take the time to read our Mac OS X Font Management guidelines here to make your font management work well. Having a fast, automatic PDF workflow is useless if you are battling fonts due to poor management.
